Stand Up Paddleboard White​ ​Water​
Coach​ ​Training


The next step for stand up paddleboard coaches who have completed the core coach module and are keen to coach stand up paddle boarding grade 2 white water.

SUP white water coach training

Who should do this course?

Paddlers who wish to work with students to coach improvement beyond introductory sessions will enjoy this course.
Club coaches who have completed the core training and wish to further develop their technical and tactical understanding.

The open water sup coach will work on venues such various sections of the river Eden, Lune near Sedbergh and Leven.

Course content

This course will look at:

  • Goal setting and matching teaching strategies to the aims and the duration of the session.
  • Managing the learning experience in more exposed environments
  • Skill breakdown.
  • Development of progressions to link learning.
  • Practice tasks to enable clear observation and analysis.
  • Use of intrinsic feedback strategies.

All students will leave the course with a clear and precise action plan to allow them to focus on assessment or just become a better coach.

This will include feedback on:

  • Personal skill against the coach benchmark.
  • Technical understanding and knowledge of technical templates.
  • Coaching delivery.
  • Rescue skill.

At the end of the course you will receive a discount voucher for £55 off the full price of a place on one of our performance awards. Terms apply.

Pre-requisites

Fulll Home Nation Association Membership.

Core coach training.

White water safety and rescue training.

Experience of working with groups.

A reasonable level of personal skill in the open water environment. It isn’t essential but paddling at the standard of the white water performance award could be used as a minimum benchmark.

An interest in the coaching of students.
