What our clients say...

"Good coaches – clear and concise, put at ease despite it being an assessment. Information given was spot on – knew what was happening etc."

"Right level, good venues – appropriate duration also just right. Assessors were fair, clear in what they wanted. Some good training input at times as well. Was given the opportunity to display skills and was looked after when not leading."

"Well organised, productive, very good technical content, enough to learn new things. I’d like to say how relaxed, efficient and supportive the instructor was during assessment. He puts people at their ease, is very knowledgeable and brings out the best in candidates."

"Well organised.  As ever, excellent people at Wild River – no question of a searching assessment. Chose Wild River again because you give quality training and assessments at a high respected level."

"Clear, concise instructions, good choice of venues. Great assessment cheers!"

"Loads of information available and good communication. I felt I learnt a lot over the past three days. The prep was great, good level of delivery".

Canoe Leader Assessment

British Canoeing Moderate Water Leadership Awards were formerly known as 4 Star Leader Awards.

The British Canoeing Moderate Water Canoe Leader Award has many aspects to it. With it's combination of open water and moderate water, the Lake District is the perfect place to complete your assessment.  The ability to paddle lakes and rivers on the same day makes Cumbria the ideal venue. At Wild River we understand that assessments can be very stressful and work extremely hard to make them as relaxed as possible.

On our assessment we create the opportunity to show your leadership skills in all the appropriate environments.  This will include paddling and leading a group on open water; some downwind sailing; paddling and leading on a grade 2 river, along with the traditional skills of lining and poling and of lots of rescue practice.

We know that candidates enjoy the assessment more when we bring real students for them to lead. We will bring students on both the open water and river sections of the course. This makes the whole course more relaxed. There is no need to pretend for scenarios and definitely no tricks or set ups.

All you have to do is take a few people paddling and look after them. We will make sure that they are at the right level for the environment and are happy to go paddling.

4 Star canoe Leader Assessment

  • We will give you as much time as possible to show what you can do.

  • If the assessment involves leadership or coaching of others we will do our best to bring real students for you to coach or lead.
